Chrysler Group LLC said CEO Sergio Marchionne will travel to Kokomo,Ind., next week to “announce investments and jobs to boost transmission manufacturing in Indiana.”
The Auburn Hills automaker already has a transmission factory in Kokomo.In December, Chrysler said it was considering a plan to invest $162 million in a former Getrag Transmission factory in nearby Tipton. Marchionne is expected to confirm that next week.
The mayor of Tipton isscheduled to be present at the event on Feb. 28, along with Indiana Gov.Mike Pence.
Chrysler said its Tipton expansion would create about 850 jobs.
Chrysler has three transmission factories and a casting plant in Kokomo.
