CNBC video: Detroit moving from Motor City to Tech City?

Will Detroit be the next Silicon Valley?

Here are some reports that try to answer that question:

Reporting from Midtown Detroit at the M@dison building for his “Innovation & Investing” series, CNBC’s Brian Shactman points to investments by Quicken Loans’ founder and Chair Dan Gilbert, and heralds Detroit as perhaps the next Silicon Valley.

Gilbert started one of the venture capitalist firms that calls the M@dison building home.

Shactman said the new techies are “working for salaries that are pretty competitive in New York and Silicon Valley.”

In addition, Detroit Free Press columnist Tom Walsh visited the M@dison, talking with Greg Schwartz, CEO of Upto.

The M@dison also is the home of Twitter in Michigan.
