A cruise ship from Cleveland and a number of dignitaries were expected this morning for the dedication of a new dock on the Detroit River capable of handling cruise ships.
Today marks the opening of the $22 million Public Dock and Terminal on the Detroit River. Participants in the 10 a.m. ceremony include Mayor Dave Bing. U.S. Sen. Carl Levin, U.S. Rep. Hansen Clark and Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano.
After arriving from Cleveland and docking overnight Sunday, the 184-foot Grande Mariner — the terminal’s first cruise ship — was scheduled to leave today for Windsor, Ontario.
