One example of Friedman’s commitment to achieving optimal operating efficiencies is through the installation of LED lighting. While the use of LED lighting in residential markets has been far more extensive, its application in commercial settings is relatively new. In addition to energy savings, LED technology provides employees with a brighter work area for maximum productivity and safety.
Friedman’s Commercial Management Division recently installed LED lighting at Laurel Office Park III, part of the multi-tenant office complex located at 17197 Laurel Park Drive in Livonia, Michigan. The LED lights have vastly improved clarity and brightness at the ±215,016 square foot building. The lighting upgrade is expected to consume approximately 75% less energy than the previous fluorescent bulbs. Friedman was awarded leasing and management responsibilities of Laurel Office Park III in 2010.
In recognition of Friedman’s energy efficiency efforts, two of Friedman’s buildings have earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) ENERGY STAR certification in 2014, which signifies that the building performs in the top 25% of similar facilities nationwide for energy efficiency and meets strict energy efficiency performance levels set by the EPA.
