General Motors Co. is considering whether to build a $258 million information technology data center at its Milford Proving Ground site.
The Detroit News reports that the automaker wants a tax abatement for the project in Oakland County’s Milford Township. The building would include utility support space, office areas, dock areas and an equipment yard.
Construction could begin next month. The plans are part of GM’s major overhaul of its information technology organization.
Details were presented last week to the Milford Township board. A public hearing is planned for March 20.
Last year, GM announced a new computer center to be housed on the grounds of its technical center in Warren.
