Gym chains are continuing to expand in southeast Michigan, opening locations that charge just $10 per month for the budget-conscious or up to $140 for those eager to strain, sweat and be seen among Oakland County’s elite.
Well-established brands in Michigan including Planet Fitness, LA Fitness and Anytime Fitness have been growing their already significant footprints, even doubling down with second locations in Livonia and Ann Arbor in the case of LA Fitness.
Meanwhile, New York-based Crunch Fitness has gone from zero to three Michigan locations in less than a year (in Dearborn, Westland and Farmington Hills), and fast-expanding chains Blink Fitness and Edge Fitness Clubs are laying groundwork for their first of possibly many outposts in the state.
